Balloon Crew

Our flight crew are at the heart of what we do. Our small teams work directly our guests and create the tone of each experience we provide. In this role, you'll help set up and track our balloons and set up an easy locally inspired meal wherever we happen to land.

TEMPORARY · PHOENIX, AZ

You:

Are physically fit and capable of lifting 100lbs
Are (or are willing to become) an early riser
Like to move and think on your feet, and enjoy being outdoors
Are adventurous, and enjoy not knowing what comes next
Feel at home with a little dirt on you
Love working with a team
Have a smartphone and reliable transportation
Can navigate using a map
Have a good driving record and valid drivers license
Are capable of backing up a 20 Ft trailer (or can see yourself learning it)
May have worked in tourism before – bonus points if it was a guest-facing role
Easily find common ground with any personality type, and pick up on social cues quickly
Are willing to take on many roles and constantly push the line of we can do
See yourself volunteering for all of the odd-jobs and hourly work errands it takes to keep a small business going

As flight crew, you'll typically:

Help set up equipment for flight, check fuel levels, and run through checklists
Prepare coffee and fresh-baked cookies for arriving guests
Check passengers in, and give a quick call to anyone we might be missing
Discuss potential launch locations with your pilot, based on weather and wind (you'll learn this more quickly than you might expect)
Spend some time with your group, keeping them comfortable and excited for the flight
Launch a helium balloon from the lot, and explain the process of steering a hot air balloon
Drive to the chosen launch site, giving a brief tour along the way
Set up, cold inflate, and prepare the balloon for flight. Get a few guests safely involved.
Chase! Stay in touch with your pilot by radio
Provide ground wind checks and check access to landing sites as needed
Assist in landing and teardown of the balloon
Setup tables, prepare craft cocktails and serve a pre-prepared meal for our guests
Finish packing up the equipment (this requires a great deal of physical strength) and leave the field to fuel equipment
Return cookware to our commercial kitchen space, wash and pack for the next flight on a rotating schedule
Experience often having done a day's work at 11am

We are a balloon ride company, of course. But we're also the first regularly scheduled bespoke desert dining experience in Arizona, as well as a curator of weekend adventure retreats. We're a blossoming event organizer, and a representation of our city and it's offerings. We have lofty goals for our little company, and we’re excited to work with those who would love to keep pace.
